APRISE, in collaboration with ENFiber COST Action (CA24111), is pleased to announce an upcoming webinar titled “Climate Crisis, Sustainable Food Systems and the Role of Plant-Based Foods.”

The session will be delivered by Ebru Akdağ, President of the Plant-Based Foods Association (BİTKİDEN), on 6 October 2026, from 14:00 to 15:00 CEST.

About the webinar

The climate crisis presents significant challenges for food systems, food safety, and public health. The transition towards more sustainable food systems requires approaches that address both environmental sustainability and the nutritional needs of populations.

This webinar will explore the role of plant-based foods and plant-rich diets in supporting climate action and public health. It will examine the transition from traditional staples to next-generation plant-based foods, alongside the potential of food-waste reduction and side-stream valorization to create circular value within food systems.

The session will address the following topics:

  • Understanding the relationship between the climate crisis, food systems, and food safety.
  • Exploring plant-rich diets as a climate and public-health lever.
  • Examining the protein transition, from traditional staples to next-generation plant-based foods.
  • Understanding how food-waste reduction and side-stream valorization can contribute to circular food systems.
